Canadian digital-asset lender APX Lending plans to introduce Bitcoin-backed mortgages in Canada during the first quarter of 2027, opening a waitlist for prospective borrowers who want to use their cryptocurrency wealth to help finance residential property without first selling their Bitcoin. The proposed product represents a potentially important expansion of crypto-backed lending from shorter-term liquidity and revolving credit into one of the largest and most heavily regulated areas of household finance: residential mortgages.

Block has raised its 2026 gross profit forecast to approximately $12.63 billion after reporting stronger third-quarter results driven by accelerating Cash App activity, higher Square payment volumes and growing use of its broader financial-services ecosystem. Hylo has launched xZEC on Solana, giving users tokenized leveraged exposure to Zcash without requiring a conventional margin account or perpetual-futures position. The protocol describes xZEC as targeting approximately 3x long exposure to ZEC through the same liquidation-resistant architecture it already uses for xSOL, xBTC and xHYPE, while also stating that xZEC is backed by and redeemable in kind for ZEC. The product is live on Solana, but its effective leverage is expected to vary with market conditions rather than remaining fixed permanently at exactly three times the daily movement of Zcash. Polymarket has moved another step toward building a more vertically integrated U.S. prediction-market business after its affiliate PM Derivatives LLC received National Futures Association approval to operate as a futures commission merchant, or FCM. The approval would allow the affiliate to act as an intermediary that accepts customer orders and holds customer funds for regulated derivatives trading once the remaining federal authorization requirements are satisfied. Polymarket cannot yet treat the brokerage as fully operational because PM Derivatives still requires the applicable Commodity Futures Trading Commission approval before it can begin conducting FCM business. Coinbase says cryptocurrency staking is now available again to eligible customers in New Jersey, moving the state from an expected reopening announced a day earlier to what the company now describes as active product availability. Coinbase is advertising staking rewards of up to 12% annually for eligible assets, although actual reward rates vary by cryptocurrency, validator performance, network conditions and Coinbase’s applicable commission. The announcement follows New Jersey’s decision to move away from the 2023 enforcement action that prevented residents from staking new principal through Coinbase for more than three years. Uniswap has expanded its StablePair Hook to X Layer, bringing its dynamic-fee market design for closely priced assets to a USDG/USDT0 liquidity pool inside the OKX-associated blockchain ecosystem. The deployment extends a Uniswap v4 mechanism originally launched on Ethereum for stablecoin pairs and is designed to change trading fees according to how far a pool has moved from its expected reference price and which direction a proposed swap would push it. The objective is not simply to make stablecoin swaps cheaper, but to change how the economic value generated when stablecoin prices return toward parity is divided between arbitrageurs and liquidity providers. Cross River is building tokenization directly into its lending infrastructure through a new initiative with Offchain, the developer of Arbitrum, that will allow loans originated through the bank’s platform to be funded, owned, transferred and serviced on Arbitrum One from the moment they are created. The companies have already completed a proof of concept and are now working toward a production deployment targeted for early 2027, making this more than a conceptual partnership while still falling short of a commercially live tokenized-loan marketplace. ZeroDev will provide embedded smart-wallet infrastructure, while Offchain Enterprise Services is working directly with Cross River on the architecture and implementation. Read More...
Kalshi traders taking the initiating side of multi-leg prediction-market contracts have accumulated an estimated $1.004 billion in losses including fees since parlays launched in September 2025, according to a new analysis by prediction-market publication InGame. The research estimates that takers committed approximately $7.1 billion in actual stakes while Kalshi recorded roughly $165.6 billion in cumulative parlay trading volume, highlighting an enormous difference between the cash participants put at risk and the headline volume generated by the contracts. The findings are analytical estimates reconstructed from public market data rather than audited customer-account records, but they raise important questions about retail outcomes, fee economics and how prediction-market activity should be measured as sports-related trading drives rapid industry growth. U.S. midterm-election prediction markets have attracted more than $1.48 billion in reported trading volume ahead of the November 3 congressional elections, turning Election Day into one of the most significant tests yet of whether rapidly expanding event-contract markets can translate trading activity into useful political forecasts. Reuters reported approximately $1.33 billion in midterm-related trading on Kalshi and roughly $145 million across Polymarket congressional markets using data compiled by the Anti-Corruption Data Collective, although the two figures do not use perfectly identical coverage or measurement methodologies. Kalshi’s live Midterms Hub has continued accumulating activity since that snapshot and now displays more than $1.5 billion in volume, underscoring how quickly the totals can change in the final hours before voting. Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission has unveiled draft rules for stablecoin issuers that would require full reserve backing, impose a NT$300 million minimum paid-in capital requirement on qualifying nonbank issuers, and place banks and financial holding companies at the center of the ownership structure for new stablecoin businesses. The proposal would allow stablecoins linked one-to-one to the New Taiwan dollar or an eligible single foreign currency, while requiring issuers to verify customers, maintain internal controls, submit financial and operating information to regulators and comply with financial-sector anti-money-laundering rules. The measures are proposed implementing regulations rather than rules already in force, and they are expected to move through a public consultation process before Taiwan’s broader Virtual Asset Service Act and related subordinate regulations take effect.
