Who we are and what this covers
UpSwitch.AI LLC operates Katharos.ai (Katharos, we, us). This policy explains how we handle personal information through our website, accounts, newsletters, subscription services, research, market tools and contact form. Contact us through the Contact page for questions or privacy requests. Third-party websites have their own policies.
Information we collect
Information you provide includes your email address, account and profile details, newsletter preferences, support requests, contact-form name, optional organization, subject and message, and information submitted through available professional or commercial features. Authentication information is processed through our account infrastructure. Do not send passwords, wallet recovery phrases, private keys or payment-card details in messages.
Service records can include subscription tier and status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, reading allowances, article access, email verification, delivery attempts, unsubscribe choices and security events. Stripe processes payment details; our application does not need your full card number to manage your membership.
Technical information includes IP address, browser and device information, page activity and approximate location derived from your connection. Hosting, authentication, email and payment providers may also generate operational logs. Public profile or listing information you choose to publish may be visible to other visitors.
How we use information
We use information to provide accounts and content access, administer subscriptions and reading allowances, deliver requested communications, respond to inquiries, support professional features, measure readership, diagnose problems and protect against fraud or abuse. We also use records to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our terms. We do not need wallet credentials to provide these services.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing may be necessary to perform our contract with you, meet legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests in operating and securing the service subject to your rights, or act on your consent. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it without affecting prior lawful processing.
Readership analytics and browser storage
Our first-party analytics records page visits and clicks on links and buttons, a random browser identifier, IP addresses and approximate country and continent. These records support readership reporting in Supabase; access to the reports is restricted to administrators. Account pages, admin activity, form entries, search terms and URL query strings are excluded from this readership tracking.
The analytics identifier and preference cookies last up to one year. Analytics preferences at the bottom of this page lets you stop future first-party analytics collection in this browser. This analytics feature respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals and previously saved opt-outs. Turning it off does not automatically erase earlier records. Browser counts are not verified counts of people.
Authentication cookies support sign-in and session security. Browser storage may also retain preferences, cached market data and local interface state. Blocking or clearing storage can sign you out or reset preferences. First-party analytics controls do not necessarily control cookies set by independently operated third-party websites.
Advertising, sponsors and external content
Katharos supports direct advertising, sponsored research and third-party advertising integrations, including Google AdSense and Coinzilla when enabled. Loading an advertisement or embedded external content can disclose your IP address, browser information and page context to its provider; cookies or similar technologies may be used to measure or personalize advertising depending on configuration and your choices. Advertisers and external providers apply their own privacy terms.
Where advertising practices qualify as a sale, sharing or targeted advertising under applicable law, you may have a right to opt out. Use available advertising controls or contact us with a privacy request. Do not treat the first-party analytics switch as a universal advertising opt-out. We do not provide advertisers with your password, wallet credentials or full payment-card details.
When information is disclosed
We use service providers to operate Katharos, including Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database and authentication services, Stripe for payments and billing, and Resend for email delivery. They receive information needed for their functions; their independent activities may be governed by their own policies. Authorized staff and contractors may access information needed for their work.
We may disclose information when legally required, to protect rights and security, investigate abuse, obtain professional advice, or in connection with a merger, financing or business transfer subject to applicable safeguards. Information you intentionally make public or send to another organization may be used by its recipients. We may disclose aggregated reporting that does not identify you.
Newsletters and service messages
Where your account preferences enable the daily article email, Katharos may send a selected news or review article published during the previous 24 hours. A day without qualifying content may have no edition. Use the unsubscribe link in a newsletter or your available account preferences to stop these messages.
Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not close your account or cancel paid membership. Essential account, security, billing and requested support messages may continue. We maintain delivery and unsubscribe records to operate the service and respect your choices. Email providers process recipient addresses and delivery information.
Retention and deletion
We retain information for the purposes described here, taking account of account activity, legal and accounting duties, security, disputes and the need to respect opt-outs. Account, billing, support and newsletter records may remain where those purposes require them; backup copies may persist until normal backup replacement.
Our current first-party page, click, IP-address and pseudonymous-browser analytics records have no automatic expiry and are retained for lifetime readership reporting. You may request deletion or review of these records through Contact. We will assess the request under applicable law and explain any applicable limitation. Disabling tracking stops future collection in that browser, rather than deleting historical information.
Your privacy choices and requests
Depending on your location and the law applicable to our processing, you may request access, correction, deletion, a copy or portability of personal information; object to or restrict processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling. These rights can have exceptions and eligibility requirements. We do not use KAI market scores to make legal or similarly significant decisions about your personal eligibility.
Submit requests using the Contact page with the subject Privacy request. Include the account email and the nature of your request, but no password or sensitive identity document unless a secure verification process is agreed. We may verify identity or an authorized agent’s authority before acting. We respond within applicable legal time limits and explain a refusal where required. You may request review of a refusal through the same form with the subject Privacy appeal, and complain to your relevant regulator or attorney general. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
Security and international processing
We use access controls and security measures intended to protect information, but no internet service or transmission can be guaranteed secure. Keep your credentials private, use available account protections and report suspected unauthorized access through Contact.
Katharos and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where protections can differ from those in your location. Where cross-border transfer safeguards are required by applicable law, they must accompany the relevant processing. Contact us for information about safeguards applicable to your request.
Children
Katharos is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Additional protections may apply to minors under local law.
Updates and contact
