Cryptocurrency markets turned sharply higher on Wednesday morning as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and a broad range of altcoins recovered from overnight lows following confirmation that Democrats had won control of both chambers of the U.S. Congress. Bitcoin climbed back above $78,000, Ethereum recovered above $2,320, and Solana moved back toward the mid-$90 range after all three assets traded substantially lower earlier in the session. The timing places the rebound immediately after the U.S. midterm result became clear, but the price action should be described as a post-election risk rebound rather than proof that the Democratic sweep itself directly caused investors to buy cryptocurrency.

Circle reported $865 million in third-quarter revenue and reserve income, up 17% from a year earlier, as growth from the Arc blockchain and improving payment infrastructure offset falling income from the reserves backing USDC. Net income from continuing operations reached $226 million, while adjusted EBITDA surged 85% to $317 million, giving the stablecoin issuer one of its strongest headline earnings quarters since becoming a public company. The composition of those results, however, reveals an important shift: USDC reserve income declined 8% even as average circulation increased, while $182 million of revenue from the ARC token presale became the principal reason total revenue grew. The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has issued its first dedicated supervisory framework for bank examiners evaluating artificial-intelligence and agentic systems, marking a significant shift in how federal banking supervision is approaching increasingly autonomous financial technology. The framework tells examiners to focus primarily on the consequences of an AI system’s actions, the degree of authority delegated to it and the amount of human oversight surrounding the use case rather than treating technical sophistication itself as the main measure of risk. Under that approach, a relatively simple agent capable of initiating payments or other financial transactions could warrant more intensive controls than a substantially more advanced model restricted to internal research or analysis. Tokenized-stock trading on Solana reached a reported $657 million on November 2, more than double the volume recorded on any other single day since September, as blockchain-based equity markets continued expanding beyond their early experimental phase. Backpack-issued securities accounted for approximately $598 million, or about 91% of the reported total, making one provider overwhelmingly responsible for the record day. The milestone demonstrates that tokenized equities can generate substantial turnover on Solana, but the concentration also means the headline figure should not yet be interpreted as evidence of equally broad adoption across the network’s growing number of tokenized-stock issuers and venues. OKX has expanded its tokenized-equity business into derivatives with the launch of Simple Options for xSPCX, xMU, xGOOGL and xNVDA, giving eligible international customers 24-hour access to call and put strategies tied to tokenized exposure to SpaceX, Micron Technology, Alphabet and Nvidia. The product allows users to buy calls, buy puts, sell calls and sell puts through a request-for-quote system, with premiums and cash settlement denominated in USDT. The launch moves OKX beyond straightforward tokenized-stock trading into a more complex layer of equity-linked financial products traditionally associated with securities and derivatives markets. Democrats have won control of both chambers of the U.S. Congress in the November 3 midterm elections, creating a new political environment for cryptocurrency legislation, financial regulation and oversight during the final two years of President Donald Trump’s term. The Associated Press confirmed that Democrats crossed the 218-seat threshold required to control the House early Wednesday morning, while a series of Senate victories in Republican-held states had already secured control of the 100-member Senate. Several races were still being counted as of 7:56 a.m. EST on November 4, meaning the eventual size of the Democratic majorities remains unsettled even though control of Congress no longer is. Block has raised its 2026 gross profit forecast to approximately $12.63 billion after reporting stronger third-quarter results driven by accelerating Cash App activity, higher Square payment volumes and growing use of its broader financial-services ecosystem. The company reported approximately $6.72 billion in third-quarter revenue and $565.6 million in net income, while Cash App gross profit increased 27% year over year and Square gross profit rose 14%. Block also projected approximately $14.52 billion in gross profit for 2027, reinforcing management’s expectation that its consumer and merchant businesses can continue expanding even as the economics of its Bitcoin operations face a different set of challenges. Hylo has launched xZEC on Solana, giving users tokenized leveraged exposure to Zcash without requiring a conventional margin account or perpetual-futures position. The protocol describes xZEC as targeting approximately 3x long exposure to ZEC through the same liquidation-resistant architecture it already uses for xSOL, xBTC and xHYPE, while also stating that xZEC is backed by and redeemable in kind for ZEC. The product is live on Solana, but its effective leverage is expected to vary with market conditions rather than remaining fixed permanently at exactly three times the daily movement of Zcash. Polymarket has moved another step toward building a more vertically integrated U.S. prediction-market business after its affiliate PM Derivatives LLC received National Futures Association approval to operate as a futures commission merchant, or FCM. The approval would allow the affiliate to act as an intermediary that accepts customer orders and holds customer funds for regulated derivatives trading once the remaining federal authorization requirements are satisfied. Polymarket cannot yet treat the brokerage as fully operational because PM Derivatives still requires the applicable Commodity Futures Trading Commission approval before it can begin conducting FCM business. Coinbase says cryptocurrency staking is now available again to eligible customers in New Jersey, moving the state from an expected reopening announced a day earlier to what the company now describes as active product availability. Coinbase is advertising staking rewards of up to 12% annually for eligible assets, although actual reward rates vary by cryptocurrency, validator performance, network conditions and Coinbase’s applicable commission. The announcement follows New Jersey’s decision to move away from the 2023 enforcement action that prevented residents from staking new principal through Coinbase for more than three years. Uniswap has expanded its StablePair Hook to X Layer, bringing its dynamic-fee market design for closely priced assets to a USDG/USDT0 liquidity pool inside the OKX-associated blockchain ecosystem. The deployment extends a Uniswap v4 mechanism originally launched on Ethereum for stablecoin pairs and is designed to change trading fees according to how far a pool has moved from its expected reference price and which direction a proposed swap would push it. The objective is not simply to make stablecoin swaps cheaper, but to change how the economic value generated when stablecoin prices return toward parity is divided between arbitrageurs and liquidity providers.
