The U.S. Treasury Department has imposed blocking sanctions on eight Canadian money services businesses that it says helped move money between Iran and the international financial system through currency exchange and cryptocurrency transactions, expanding Washington's enforcement campaign beyond major crypto exchanges to smaller businesses that connect physical cash, fiat currencies and digital assets. The designated companies operate primarily in Ontario and British Columbia and include businesses known publicly as Million Exchange, Amin Exchange, NIA Nations, Farah Exchange and Cryptoyal. Treasury alleges that several interacted with sanctioned Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges, addresses connected to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and, in some cases, a separate Canadian drug-trafficking network that converted cash proceeds into cryptocurrency for transfer abroad.

MEXC Global has broken its silence on the U.S. Treasury Department's move to isolate the international cryptocurrency exchange from the American financial system, saying customer assets remain secure, trading continues normally and the company has begun an independent review of its anti-money-laundering and sanctions controls. The response marks the first substantive public reaction from MEXC since the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network concluded that the exchange presented a primary money-laundering concern connected to Russian illicit finance and alleged that it facilitated at least $16 billion in illicit-finance-linked transactions. MEXC says it intends to engage constructively with FinCEN and other regulators, but its announcement does not suspend, reverse or modify the U.S. enforcement order. Read More...
The U.S. Treasury Department has ordered American financial institutions to cut off fund transfers involving MEXC Global, after the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network concluded that the international cryptocurrency exchange is a primary money-laundering concern connected to Russian illicit finance. FinCEN's detailed order says MEXC facilitated approximately $16.7 billion in transactions linked to sanctions evasion, cybercrime and other illicit activity between May 2021 and May 2026, while Treasury's public announcement summarizes the figure as at least $16 billion. The action is one of the most consequential U.S. financial restrictions imposed on a major international cryptocurrency exchange, but it is not an immediate worldwide shutdown of MEXC and it does not by itself freeze all customer cryptocurrency. The investigation into the cyberattack against French banking group Crédit Mutuel Arkéa has expanded significantly, with new blockchain forensics tracing as much as $126 million in cryptocurrency withdrawals through accounts at Kraken, Crypto.com and OKX after attackers stole money from an account belonging to the bank. Crédit Mutuel Arkéa continues to estimate that approximately €100 million is missing, while saying the final recoverable amount remains unknown and that some funds have already been blocked. The difference between those figures is important: the €100 million amount is the bank's current estimate of its financial exposure, while the $126 million figure is Bitquery's independently reconstructed crypto-flow dataset and has not been adopted by Arkéa as its definitive loss. Two of Brazil's largest financial-technology platforms temporarily restricted cryptocurrency transfers on November 6 after separate disruptions involving external service providers, underscoring how digital-asset access can depend on compliance and transaction-monitoring infrastructure that sits outside a bank or fintech's own custody systems. Nubank suspended cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals through NuCripto after reporting instability at an outside data provider, while Mercado Pago said problems involving a provider of risk-monitoring and anti-money-laundering services caused it to block some outbound crypto transfers and warn that incoming deposits could be credited late. Both companies said customer assets remained protected and cryptocurrency buying and selling continued to operate. Read More...
Coinbase has expanded its Morpho-powered lending service to PAX Gold (PAXG), allowing eligible customers in the United States and Canada to borrow USDC against tokenized physical gold without first selling their gold exposure. The November 6 launch makes PAXG the first non-crypto-native collateral asset supported through Coinbase Borrow's Morpho integration, extending an onchain lending system previously centered on assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Solana into tokenized real-world assets. For the RWA market, the development is significant because it moves tokenized gold beyond investment and trading into another traditional financial role: collateral for borrowing. Read More...
The record $6.3 billion theft from Binance is forcing insurers and reinsurers to reconsider how they evaluate cryptocurrency companies, with industry specialists expecting tougher questions about cybersecurity, third-party dependencies and exposure to attack techniques similar to those used against the world's largest crypto exchange. Insurance executives interviewed by Reuters do not expect the incident to trigger a wholesale retreat from digital assets or an immediate collapse in available insurance capacity. The more likely near-term consequence is stricter underwriting at annual renewals, as insurers demand greater evidence that exchanges, custodians and other crypto companies have addressed weaknesses exposed by the attack. Chinese authorities have now provided a regulatory explanation for the disruption of Solana Accelerate China 2026 in Shanghai, with a People's Bank of China official reportedly confirming that regulators coordinated to stop the October 16 event and intend to investigate the organizations and individuals involved. The new November 6 comments materially change the public understanding of an incident that organizers had initially described primarily in terms of logistics and an unexpected surge in registrations. They also reinforce that mainland China's restrictions on cryptocurrency promotion remain broad enough to reach international blockchain projects even when those projects emphasize developers, artificial intelligence or infrastructure rather than token trading. U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds recorded approximately $530.1 million in combined net outflows on November 5, reversing the previous session's return to positive flows as cryptocurrency prices fell alongside a severe technology-led selloff in U.S. equities. Bitcoin ETFs lost a net $430.2 million, while Ethereum funds recorded another $99.9 million in redemptions, according to finalized fund-level data from Farside Investors. The simultaneous withdrawals provide fresh evidence that the latest risk-off move reached regulated crypto investment products as well as spot and derivatives markets, although the flow data alone cannot establish what specifically motivated investors to reduce exposure. Binance will process upcoming cash dividends for tokenized securities linked to IBM, Apple, Corning and Eli Lilly, using automatic reinvestment and onchain multiplier adjustments to pass the economic value of the underlying companies’ distributions to eligible bStocks holders. The exchange has scheduled entitlement snapshots between November 10 and November 13 for IBMB, AAPLB, GLWB and LLYB, while trading in the corresponding USDT pairs is expected to remain available during processing. The announcement provides another practical example of how tokenized equities must reproduce traditional corporate actions even though holders do not directly own the underlying U.S. shares. World Liberty Financial says it plans another program to repurchase its WLFI governance token, potentially using revenue associated with the reserves backing its USD1 stablecoin alongside other company income streams. The company has not disclosed the initial capital allocation, purchase schedule or percentage of stablecoin-related revenue that could be directed toward the program, meaning the November 5 statement is a capital-allocation plan rather than evidence that another round of purchases has already occurred. The proposal nevertheless creates an important economic link between World Liberty Financial's growing dollar-stablecoin business and the market for its separate, price-sensitive governance token.
