Background & Biography
Rossiello founded BitPesa in Nairobi in 2013. Before that, she worked in financial analysis and microfinance, examining institutions and the practical barriers facing businesses moving money across borders. A 2019 Japan External Trade Organization speaker biography describes her earlier work rating microfinance institutions across sub-Saharan Africa and records a master’s degree in international business and finance from Columbia University.
BitPesa developed into AZA Finance, broadening its work into foreign exchange and payment services. Rossiello’s subsequent appointment at B2C2 brings that operating experience into an institutional digital-asset liquidity business. B2C2’s current management page lists her as chief operating officer and identifies London as its headquarters. Her African-market experience remains a central part of her professional history without implying that her current employer is based in Kenya.
Notable Contributions
BitPesa provided an early practical use case for digital currencies in international settlement. In an interview with Endeavor, Rossiello discussed building the company around the needs of African businesses trading across borders. Its significance lies in applying financial technology to payment routes and foreign-exchange access, rather than creating a new blockchain protocol.
B2C2’s October 2026 appointment announcement assigns Rossiello responsibility for group operations as the firm expands liquidity services supporting cross-border payments and stablecoin adoption. This is an announced operating mandate, not evidence that every planned service has already launched or achieved a particular result.
AZA’s corporate transition also needs precise description. dLocal initially announced an intention to acquire AZA Finance in June 2025. Its subsequent filings record a restructured transaction involving selected assets and the share capital of Mint Code Solutions in Cameroon, completed on February 27, 2026. The completed deal should not be simplified into an acquisition of every AZA entity or all of its operations.
Why Katharos.ai Follows Elizabeth Rossiello
Rossiello’s work offers a payments-focused view of digital assets. A blockchain transfer is only one part of moving value between businesses: local currency conversion, liquidity, banking connections and the recipient’s ability to use the funds can matter just as much. Her background makes these operational questions relevant to coverage of her current role.
Katharos.ai follows the connection between African payment-market experience and institutional liquidity. Stablecoins may change how value moves between systems, but their practical usefulness depends on more than transaction speed. Coverage should examine the full service, the counterparties involved and the conditions under which customers can obtain local currency.
Areas to Follow
Areas to follow include B2C2’s development of payments-related liquidity, its stablecoin services and the operational responsibilities Rossiello takes on after her appointment. New partnerships should be described using their actual scope and launch dates, rather than assuming that an announcement makes a service available in every market.
Her earlier work also provides context for examining access to foreign exchange and settlement across African markets. Future reporting can assess whether new services address those practical constraints and what independent evidence exists for claimed improvements. No efficiency claim should be treated as universal across different currencies, institutions or payment routes.
Reporting Scope
Coverage prioritises current employer announcements, management records, first-person interviews and original corporate filings. Historical event biographies are useful for career context but should not override a newer appointment. In particular, older references to Rossiello as AZA’s current chief executive require updating.
The profile distinguishes her work from the collective contributions of colleagues, investors and partners. It does not treat a company’s regulatory status as an endorsement of every product, or infer that a digital-asset service eliminates financial or operational risk. Claims about transaction volumes, savings and reliability require appropriately dated supporting evidence.
Areas of Influence Category
Exchanges & Infrastructure is the primary category, reflecting Rossiello’s work in payments, foreign exchange and institutional digital-asset liquidity. Her background is relevant to policy discussions, but this profile describes an operator rather than a regulator. This directory profile is unranked.
Current Position
Chief Operating Officer of B2C2, appointed in October 2026. Founder of BitPesa, later known as AZA Finance. The country label reflects B2C2’s London headquarters, not an assertion of nationality or residence.
