Current Position & Biography
Pierre Gérard is chief executive and co-founder of Scorechain, a Luxembourg-based blockchain-analytics and digital-asset compliance business. The company's current legal notice names him as chief executive, while its 2026 product announcements identify him as co-founder. Luxembourg is the company's documented operating base, not a claim about Gérard's nationality or residence.
His entrepreneurial background includes the music platform Jamendo and the Bitcoin wallet project Yallet. A biography published in Société Générale's 2019 Token magazine connects those earlier ventures with his co-founding of Scorechain in 2015. This continuity also explains why the archival portrait shows him speaking about Jamendo, before his later blockchain work.
Notable Contributions
Scorechain's early work addressed the need to interpret Bitcoin transactions for businesses implementing customer and anti-money-laundering checks. Its October 2015 announcement, reproduced by bitcoin.fr, identified Gérard and Laurent Kratz as founders and described tools for transaction analysis and reporting. This is a dated account of the company's initial direction, not a description of every capability it offers today.
The business has subsequently expanded into analysis across multiple blockchains. In April 2026, Scorechain announced Cardano coverage for compliance and investigation workflows, including address screening and transaction analysis. Gérard's accompanying statement described the goal of applying consistent analytics across different networks. These are company-reported product capabilities; their effectiveness depends on data quality, implementation and the user's own controls.
In June 2026, Scorechain announced an integration using the Model Context Protocol to connect AI tools with its blockchain-risk intelligence. The announcement describes assistance with investigation, explanation and drafting. It explicitly leaves closing alerts and recording final dispositions to people in their own case-management systems. That distinction is central to understanding the product: an AI-generated explanation is not itself a compliance decision or a regulator's approval.
Gérard's role is company-building and executive leadership. The public record supports his involvement in defining and presenting these products, but does not establish that he personally authored every software component or attribution dataset. The profile keeps team contributions separate from individual responsibilities.
Why Katharos Is Following Them
Blockchain analytics forms part of the infrastructure connecting public transaction networks with financial institutions, crypto businesses and compliance teams. Gérard's work provides a way to follow how providers interpret on-chain activity and package it into operational tools. The emerging combination of analytics and AI also raises practical questions about explainability and human review.
Areas to Follow
Follow Scorechain's documented network integrations, the scope and limitations of its risk information, and the division of responsibility between automated assistance and analysts. Examine how source attribution, indirect exposure and reviewable evidence are communicated, rather than treating a risk score as a conclusive judgment about a person or business.
Reporting Scope
Coverage focuses on verified executive roles and dated product announcements. Company claims are attributed, and inclusion does not certify analytical accuracy, legal compliance or investment suitability. A flagged address is not by itself proof of wrongdoing. The portrait is an archival 2008 photograph that predates Scorechain.
