Current Position & Biography
Steve Beauregard is a cryptocurrency-payments entrepreneur best known as a co-founder and former chief executive of GoCoin. The Fox Family Foundation currently lists him as a board advisor. His directory relevance is anchored in the documented development of merchant cryptocurrency acceptance and his later work at Bloq, rather than an unverified present-day executive position at either business.
GoCoin's November 2013 company announcement identified Beauregard as its co-founder and incoming CEO. It described a Bitcoin payment gateway for merchants, initially targeting e-commerce, digital content and gaming. The business was headquartered in Singapore with an office in Santa Monica, and its engineering team worked across Singapore, Argentina and the United States. These are documented company connections, not claims about his citizenship or current residence.
Notable Contributions
GoCoin addressed a practical adoption problem: enabling merchants to accept cryptocurrency without building the entire payment integration themselves. In September 2014, PayPal announced arrangements with GoCoin, BitPay and Coinbase for digital-goods merchants using its Payments Hub. Contemporary reporting distinguished this processor integration from PayPal itself processing or holding Bitcoin. That distinction is important when assessing the reach of early cryptocurrency payment infrastructure.
Beauregard subsequently held the chief revenue officer role at Bloq. A March 8, 2019 article on Bloq's own website identifies him in that position and carries his byline. His discussion of non-fungible tokens examined digitally unique collectibles, virtual-world assets and potential fan-access applications. This is evidence of his participation in industry product and adoption discussions, not a claim that he invented NFTs or built every project mentioned in the article.
Bloq's author archive also preserves his commentary on Bitcoin conferences, tokenization and the Latin American Bitcoin ecosystem. Those writings provide a dated record of his views. They should be read as commentary from a participant in the industry, rather than independent validation of investment prospects or project performance.
Why Katharos Is Following Them
Katharos follows Beauregard as a contributor to the commercial history of crypto payments. His work offers a way to examine how merchant integrations, customer demand and settlement requirements shaped early services built around Bitcoin and other digital currencies. The combination of payment operations and later blockchain-business commentary makes the profile relevant to practical adoption, while keeping claims about current authority appropriately limited.
Areas to Follow
Relevant coverage includes merchant cryptocurrency acceptance, payment-gateway integration, settlement choices and the distinction between a processor partnership and direct custody. Any new venture, advisory appointment or commercial claim should be checked against current primary evidence before being added. Historical predictions about tokenization should be evaluated against subsequent outcomes rather than presented as present facts.
Reporting Scope
This profile covers documented business roles and public blockchain commentary. Former GoCoin and Bloq roles are historical. The foundation's live advisor listing is the current affiliation verified for this entry. Company marketing claims about being the largest processor or generating particular payment volumes are not adopted here. Inclusion is not an endorsement of a payment service, token or investment.
Katharos Category
Stablecoins & Payments. The category includes his cryptocurrency-payment work; it does not imply that GoCoin was a stablecoin issuer.
