Background & Biography
Soubiran’s career connects quantitative finance with the practical work of building a data business. Kaiko’s official Agora biography identifies a master’s degree in applied mathematics and computer science from Paris Dauphine University and earlier work in equity derivatives at HSBC Global Markets in London. Those experiences help explain the institutional orientation of her subsequent work: trading firms need reproducible prices, usable historical records and a way to compare markets that organize their information differently. Kaiko announced her move to New York in January 2025 to lead its U.S. expansion, a professional base also reflected in her current public profile. This account therefore uses the United States as her primary market while recognizing Kaiko’s substantial European roots.
The company’s founding and Soubiran’s arrival should be kept separate. Kaiko began in 2014, and Soubiran’s own tenth-anniversary account describes acquiring it through a management buyout in 2016. Transaction adviser 2CFinance independently records the same sequence. The distinction matters because her contribution is the transformation and expansion of an existing venture, rather than a claim that she personally established every part of its original operation.
By June 2022, that expansion included a $53 million Series B led by Eight Roads, with Revaia and existing investors participating. Contemporary reporting by The Block corroborated the financing and the company’s offices in Paris, London, New York and Singapore. Funding is evidence of resources committed to the business, rather than proof of data accuracy or customer success. It nevertheless marked a significant step in the infrastructure Soubiran was building across financial centers.
Notable Contributions
Kaiko’s core contribution is making fragmented trading information usable. Its Level 1 and Level 2 products bring together trades, order books and liquidity measures across centralized and decentralized markets, with historical and live delivery in normalized formats. These are distinct inputs: a completed trade says what happened, while an order book helps describe the prices and sizes currently available. A portfolio manager, researcher or execution desk can use those records to examine market depth, compare venues or test a trading assumption. Soubiran’s leadership sits at the business and institutional-adoption level; the underlying collection, engineering and quantitative work belongs to the wider team.
The move into analytics and benchmarks broadened what Kaiko could provide. Its anniversary chronology records the acquisition of quantitative-tools business Kesitys in April 2022 and Napoléon Indices from CoinShares that June. Together, these additions connected raw observations with risk analysis and reference values used in financial products. A reference rate is a methodological output, not an asset or an assurance that a market is safe. The expansion is important because it places responsibility for selecting sources and calculating comparable values alongside responsibility for collecting data.
Kaiko also publishes an exchange-ranking methodology that assesses governance, business characteristics, technology, data quality, security and liquidity. The ranking is used in selecting venues for its index solutions and is updated quarterly. This is an example of influence through classification: choices about eligible data sources can affect the prices and products built on top of them. The classification remains Kaiko’s proprietary assessment, with its own assumptions and limitations; it should not be presented as a regulatory approval or a guarantee against exchange failure.
The S&P Global relationship became more substantial in 2026. In September, S&P Global confirmed a strategic investment through its venture arm as part of Kaiko’s Series B extension, following the launch of a co-branded S&P Kaiko digital-asset index suite. Its announcement also described the partners’ earlier work tokenizing the iBoxx U.S. Treasuries Index, including data distribution, licensing and permissioning. These are specific information and index initiatives. They do not mean that the underlying Treasury securities were issued by Kaiko, or that every institution using an S&P index has adopted blockchain settlement.
A separate February 2026 announcement from Bloomberg described a joint initiative to make Bloomberg Data License offerings accessible through Kaiko’s on-chain infrastructure. Its initial focus was tokenized U.S. Treasuries and repo workflows on the Canton Network, with access controls for licensed users. The announcement framed the work as development of a pathway and invited participation in a beta program. That wording is consequential: it supports a real partnership and defined technical direction, but not an assumption of universal production availability or established transaction volumes.
Acquisitions continued to change the business. Kaiko’s Amberdata announcement identifies the transaction as its fifth acquisition, following Cometh, and describes additions in derivatives analytics, on-chain data and data infrastructure. This extends the integration challenge as well as the product range. Combining datasets and software can make a service more useful, but consistent identifiers, documented methods and continuity for customers still have to be maintained. The acquisition is therefore a development to evaluate through execution rather than a standalone measure of superiority.
Why Katharos.ai Follows Ambre Soubiran
Katharos.ai follows Soubiran at the point where market evidence becomes institutional infrastructure. Prices, benchmark rules and liquidity measurements influence which assets enter products, how portfolios are valued and whether counterparties can agree on a shared reference. Her work offers a useful view of the transition from collecting cryptocurrency exchange data to supporting financial information inside tokenized workflows. The most meaningful evidence is the behavior of the data service and its documented uses, rather than the prominence of a partner’s logo.
Her position also makes independence and incentives worth watching. Kaiko serves paying customers while publishing research and assessments that can influence market perceptions. This is a normal feature of commercial information businesses, but it creates a continuing need for transparent methodologies, careful attribution and clear boundaries between research and product marketing. Soubiran’s influence is best understood through those responsibilities and through the organization she leads, without attributing every research finding or integration to her personally.
Areas to Follow
- Integration of Amberdata and Cometh, including continuity of coverage and clarity about which products have actually been combined. - The scope and governance of the S&P Kaiko index suite, including changes to constituent selection and calculation methods. - Progress from announced on-chain data initiatives to documented production services, particularly entitlement controls and operational reliability. - The treatment of market depth, exchange quality and data gaps when rapidly changing crypto markets are converted into institutional reference values.
Reporting Scope
This profile covers Soubiran’s public leadership, Kaiko’s documented products and selected corporate milestones through 6 October 2026. Statements from Kaiko and its partners establish what they announced or describe, while independent reporting is used to corroborate key history. Product availability, partnership scope and regulatory treatment can change; no customer count, investment return or market-share claim is inferred from a financing or acquisition. The geographic classification reflects a public professional listing, not nationality or private residence.
Areas of Influence
Soubiran’s principal area is Exchanges & Infrastructure, through the data and reference systems that support trading and financial products. Investment & Founders captures her acquisition-led company building and institutional-finance relationships. Community, Media & Education reflects the research, methodology explanations and public discussions that help market participants interpret digital-asset information. Her influence across these categories is strongest where technical data quality meets the practical requirements of institutional finance.
