Background & Biography
Scaliter’s public professional record combines technical leadership, entrepreneurship and work on blockchain applications. JusToken’s published leadership material identifies him as CTO and co-founder alongside CEO and co-founder Eduardo Novillo Astrada. The organizer of the August 2026 LATAM Digital Assets conference lists the same title, while a September 2026 iProUP interview describes his work extending the Agrotoken approach into a wider range of real-world assets. This provides a more current description than a biography limited to the original grain-tokenization brand.
Agrotoken’s investor Xperiment separately identifies Scaliter as co-founder and CTO. Algorand Foundation materials also name him in that capacity and explain his role in introducing Algorand to the project’s leadership. Together, these sources establish a consistent identity and technical-management role across the agricultural and broader tokenization businesses. They do not establish that every product component was personally implemented by him.
His interest in blockchain applications is also visible outside company marketing. A Universidad del CEMA working paper dated April 2020 and authored by Ariel E. Scaliter examined decentralized food-aid purchasing and distribution using blockchain, smart contracts and fungible tokens. The paper is evidence of an articulated research proposal. It is not evidence that a government deployed the proposed system or adopted a central-bank digital currency based on it.
Notable Contributions
Agrotoken’s central proposition is to represent grain-related assets digitally so they can be used in transactions and financial arrangements. Xperiment describes grain-backed digital assets exchangeable for supplies, services and other assets. The investor’s explanation gives the economic motivation: agricultural value can be difficult to mobilize before it is translated into an accepted form of collateral or payment. Investor descriptions remain interested-party accounts, so they are most useful alongside concrete partner documentation.
A significant example is Santander’s March 2022 announcement. The bank said it and Agrotoken were developing loans secured by tokens linked to soybeans, corn and wheat, and that a pilot with Argentine producers had already tested the technical and operating model. It described each token as corresponding to a tonne of grain and explained the use of a grain-reserve validation process. The accurate milestone is a completed pilot and a financing product under development at that date, rather than unrestricted lending available everywhere.
The same Santander release identified SOYA, CORA and WHEA as the project’s grain-linked assets. Their purpose and price reference differ from a conventional dollar stablecoin, so they should not be grouped together merely because both use tokens. Their significance is the connection to a commodity and a commercial supply chain. Assessing that connection requires evidence about the underlying assets, documentation and participants as well as the blockchain record.
Algorand Foundation’s developer account gives further detail about technology selection and integration. It credits Scaliter with bringing Algorand into the company’s discussions, describes a multichain approach and reports foundation support for work connected with a Visa program. This is direct partner testimony about the project, but it is also promotional ecosystem material. Its claims about performance or superiority should therefore not be adopted as independent technical findings.
The broader JusToken proposition extends the same general approach beyond grains. Its site describes infrastructure for digitizing real-world assets and identifies examples involving agricultural production and arable land. Those descriptions demonstrate the company’s stated product scope and leadership. A listed industry, however, does not prove that a live deployment of meaningful scale exists in that industry. Specific launches, legal structures and customer use need their own supporting records.
A newer partner-confirmed development is Enertoken. On February 12, 2026, YPF Luz and JusToken announced an energy-contracting platform using XRP Ledger, describing a first stage for digital contracting and a second stage intended to provide a portal for existing customers. YPF Luz reported more than $800 million of energy contracts and assets represented in the launch. That is an attributed representation figure, not evidence of token trading volume, fresh investment or freely exchangeable liquidity. The announcement strengthens the evidence for activity beyond agriculture while preserving the distinction between the initial service and later planned functionality.
Why Katharos.ai Follows Ariel Scaliter
Katharos.ai follows Scaliter because commodity tokenization offers a concrete way to examine the distance between an on-chain record and an off-chain asset. The underlying economic activity is not created by the token. Grain still requires storage, verification, contractual rights and a process for resolving discrepancies. The technical challenge is to connect a transferable digital representation to those arrangements without obscuring where trust remains necessary.
His record is also relevant to the relationship between public blockchain infrastructure and established financial institutions. A pilot involving a bank is a different kind of milestone from a protocol announcement or an exchange listing. It asks whether existing commercial processes can use tokenized assets, and whether the resulting workflow is useful enough to continue. Scaliter’s work gives the directory a real-economy lens through which to follow those questions.
The UCEMA paper adds an intellectual thread: using programmable digital assets to reorganize a practical distribution system. It is appropriate to credit the authored proposal and examine its assumptions, while keeping it separate from operational evidence about Agrotoken or JusToken. That separation allows the profile to recognize both research and entrepreneurship without confusing an idea with a deployed outcome.
Areas to Follow
- Asset verification: who confirms grain inventories or other backing, how often and under what accountability arrangements. - Financing: partner-confirmed movement from pilots to live credit products and independently evidenced usage. - Legal rights: what a token holder owns or can claim, including redemption and transfer restrictions. - JusToken expansion: named deployments, counterparties and transaction activity in sectors beyond agriculture. - Technical architecture: documented changes in networks, interoperability and security review, with team contributions correctly attributed.
Reporting Scope
Argentina is the primary professional market because the agricultural operating record and Santander pilot are anchored there. Brazil is relevant to the regional commercial discussion and partner communications, but no personal residence is inferred. Educational credentials and additional advisory titles are not necessary to explain the verified record and are omitted where only secondary biography services support them.
Company and partner descriptions of innovation should retain their source and date. Labels such as first, secure or fully backed require a defined comparison and evidence beyond promotional statements. Coverage should not imply that Scaliter created Algorand, Visa or the banking products of partner institutions, nor that the existence of blockchain software eliminates commodity, counterparty or operational risk.
Areas of Influence
Exchanges & Infrastructure reflects the creation of asset-representation and transaction infrastructure. Stablecoins & Payments captures the use of tokenized value in commercial exchange, while recognizing that grain-linked assets differ from dollar-pegged stablecoins. Investment & Founders covers company formation and technical leadership. Scaliter’s influence is strongest where those disciplines meet: turning a real-world commercial process into a digitally managed financial workflow.
