Current Position & Biography
Bryan Ford is an associate professor at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he leads the Decentralized/Distributed Systems laboratory, known as DEDIS. His work connects distributed computing with privacy, security and blockchain systems. He earned his doctorate at MIT and previously held a faculty position at Yale University.
Notable Contributions
EPFL's Center for Digital Trust identifies D-Voting, the drand randomness project and the OmniLedger/ByzCoin blockchain work among software originating in Ford's laboratory. These are collaborative research contributions, not projects attributed to him alone. His teaching also covers decentralized systems engineering, including encryption, file sharing and blockchain concepts.
Why Katharos.ai Is Following Them
Katharos.ai follows Ford because decentralization depends on more than token markets: systems must coordinate participants, resist failures and protect users. His research offers a technical perspective on those underlying requirements. Coverage will distinguish published research, experimental software and demonstrated deployment rather than treating them as interchangeable.
Areas to Follow
Distributed consensus, public randomness, privacy-preserving systems, blockchain engineering and verifiable digital voting. Particular attention will go to the assumptions behind security claims and the evidence supporting practical performance.
Reporting Scope
Switzerland identifies his EPFL professional base, not a claim about citizenship or private residence. Reporting focuses on public research, teaching and institutional work; it does not imply an investment recommendation or endorsement of any associated token.
