Background & Biography
Moriyama brought a consulting background to blockchain infrastructure. The guest biography accompanying a December 2022 KuCoin interview records his experience at Boston Consulting Group and Deloitte before Oasys, where it says he was responsible for overall operations. Forkast’s contributor biography places his BCG work in Tokyo and his later Deloitte senior-management work in Tel Aviv. It also records undergraduate and graduate study in applied physics at the University of Tokyo, with a focus on quantum computing and optical memory.
An indexed University of Tokyo Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory biography provides a more detailed chronology, including a 2008 engineering master’s degree, a 2014 Master of Design Methods from the IIT Institute of Design, and an Oasys directorship beginning in April 2022. The entry places him in the laboratory’s Special Situations Group and dates that position to February 2025. The live biography could not be retrieved during this review, so that indexed record is useful historical context rather than sufficient evidence of an ongoing laboratory appointment. No current academic title is asserted here.
His Oasys role is supported by several contemporaneous sources. The December 2022 interview identifies him as a director, and Oasys’s own partnership announcements in 2023 and 2024 repeatedly use that title. Independent reporting by Forkast also interviewed him alongside Oasys representative director Ryo Matsubara in July 2022. These records establish his association with the project and its public-facing leadership, but they do not establish that he was its sole founder, chief protocol engineer or continuing chief executive.
His latest verified self-description points toward quantum computing. In a June 2026 public LinkedIn post, Moriyama said he had joined Yaqumo that month and would remain based in Singapore. He connected the move to his earlier study of quantum teleportation. The post establishes an announced professional affiliation and geography, while leaving his precise job title unspecified. It also does not, by itself, provide a termination date for his Oasys directorship or any other role.
Notable Contributions
Moriyama’s most clearly documented blockchain contribution is helping organize and explain an ecosystem built for game developers. Oasys’s technical documentation describes an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible network with a Layer 1 Hub and specialized Layer 2 networks called Verses. The intended structure separates common infrastructure from game-oriented environments operated by participants in the ecosystem. This supplies the technical context for his work without attributing authorship of that architecture to him.
In that joint 2022 interview, Matsubara explained how game companies could operate Verse layers and deploy their own or other developers’ games. The operational challenge was broader than issuing a token: developers needed usable infrastructure and players needed an experience that did not require constant interaction with blockchain mechanics. Moriyama’s stated operations responsibility placed him within that effort. The evidence supports a coordination and ecosystem-development role, rather than an independently measured claim that he delivered mass consumer adoption.
A December 8, 2023 announcement illustrates the type of infrastructure relationship he publicly represented. Oasys announced collaboration with Fireblocks around managing and moving digital assets for game developers. Moriyama explained the intended benefit in terms of allowing developers to focus on creating games while reducing asset-management complexity. This is a documented corporate initiative with his attributed public rationale. The announcement alone does not establish the integration’s adoption, security performance or the identity of every production user.
Later that month, Oasys announced a partnership with Datachain and TOKI focused on interoperability using Inter-Blockchain Communication technology. Moriyama emphasized the prospect of simplifying transactions across different networks. The announcement discussed potential cross-chain settlement of NFTs and possible future use of stablecoins issued through Progmat Coin. Those were development objectives and possibilities at the time. Treating them as universal, already-delivered capabilities would overstate both the announcement and his personal contribution.
The May 2024 SBINFT Market announcement is more specific about an integration milestone. Oasys said the marketplace had added support for its Hub-Layer and MCH Verse, extending earlier HOME Verse support. Moriyama presented that change as expanding opportunities for developers and users in Japan. Eligibility remained subject to the marketplace’s provider and content-screening requirements. Network support therefore did not mean every Oasys NFT was automatically listed or commercially successful.
His cross-border perspective is also part of the record. In Forkast’s July 2022 interview, he and Matsubara described the considerations behind an operating approach spanning Singapore and Japan. That reporting helps explain why a Singapore-based professional could be closely involved with a project working with Japanese gaming businesses. It is a dated account of the company’s thinking at the time, not current tax or legal guidance. The professional geography in this profile is independently reinforced by his later statement that he would remain based in Singapore.
His published writing adds a direct record of the ideas he advocated. A June 20, 2023 Forkast opinion article under his byline argued that Japan’s gaming culture, established intellectual property, developers and evolving regulatory framework could support blockchain gaming. It is an identifiable contribution to the industry’s public debate, including his view that game companies could learn through participation as network validators. Those were Moriyama’s arguments at that time, not an independent finding that Japan would dominate the sector or a statement of present law. The article helps distinguish his own public reasoning from general claims made about Oasys.
Why Katharos.ai Follows Daiki Moriyama
Katharos.ai follows Moriyama for an operational view of blockchain adoption: how infrastructure teams explain their products, connect with developers and establish partnerships that may make applications usable. The documented examples involve custody-related tooling, cross-chain communication and access to an NFT marketplace. Each addresses a different practical requirement. Following the person requires identifying what he actually said and was responsible for, rather than treating every Oasys announcement as an individual accomplishment.
His move toward quantum computing adds a new professional chapter, although its connection to digital assets should not be presumed. Yaqumo’s official site describes a company developing neutral-atom quantum computers and lists research collaborations. Moriyama’s affiliation does not establish that he is building a blockchain product there, responsible for its research results or leading the company. The useful next question is what responsibilities and outputs become publicly attributable to him as that work develops.
Areas to Follow
- A reliable public statement of Moriyama’s exact Yaqumo title and responsibilities, along with clarification of any continuing Oasys or academic appointments. - His own accounts of ecosystem development, checked against documented implementation rather than announcement language alone. - Follow-through on the Oasys integrations he publicly represented, with current technical and commercial evidence separated from historical promises. - Any clearly documented connection between his new work and digital-asset infrastructure, without assuming that quantum-computing research is a crypto initiative.
Reporting Scope
This profile records verified historical Oasys work and a publicly announced current affiliation. The role label describes his verified Yaqumo affiliation without presenting it as an official job title; his precise present title has not been established. Singapore is supported by Moriyama’s own professional-base statement, not inferred from company incorporation. No inference is made about nationality, private residence, personal token holdings or investment returns. Later activities of Oasys are not automatically attributed to him.
Areas of Influence
Exchanges & Infrastructure captures his work around blockchain networks and the tools supporting applications built on them. Community, Media & Education reflects public explanation, interviews and ecosystem communication. These categories describe documented professional activity rather than certify a product’s quality or predict its adoption. The strongest basis for inclusion is his identifiable operations and partnership record, with present executive authority left open pending better evidence.
