Current Position & Biography
Lord Hollick has served in the House of Lords since June 1991. Parliament lists him as a member of the Financial Services Regulation Committee from January 2024. He previously chaired the Economic Affairs Committee and the Industry and Regulators Committee. His inclusion here concerns specific recorded scrutiny of digital payments and stablecoin policy.
Notable Contributions
During the 15 April 2026 stablecoin hearing, Hollick asked how users could recover money when a payment went wrong. He also questioned the effect of proposed backing-asset requirements and restrictions on returns to holders on the viability of stablecoin services. These were issues raised with Treasury witnesses, not an independent determination that particular products would fail or a statement that all rules under discussion had taken effect.
Why Katharos.ai Is Following Them
The connection between user protection and viable financial services is important to evaluating new payment arrangements. Hollick’s interventions provide a record of that connection being tested in Parliament. Katharos.ai will distinguish evidence about operational safeguards from advocacy about how a future market should be designed.
Areas to Follow
Payment redress, backing assets, holder incentives and the practical implications of regulation. Coverage will follow subsequent decisions and evidence rather than assume that technical innovation automatically delivers lower costs, adequate protection or sustainable commercial models.
