Background & Biography
Roberto Sallouti’s career has developed within institutional finance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the firm in 1994, became a partner in 1998 and worked in fixed income before becoming chief operating officer in 2008 and chief executive officer in 2015. These milestones are recorded by the GRI Institute and corroborated in the São Paulo legislature’s account of a March 2025 event honoring his educational work.
BTG’s current governance materials identify him under his full name, Roberto Balls Sallouti, as both CEO and a board member. The combination places him within the bank’s executive management and corporate oversight. The institution’s governance framework also reserves certain decisions for the board or shareholders, so the role should not be read as unilateral control over every group activity.
His professional base is São Paulo, Brazil. He is also a co-founder of Inteli, a nonprofit technology and leadership institution in São Paulo. That educational work provides wider career context, but is not treated as a cryptocurrency program or a separate source of crypto-market authority.
Notable Contributions
BTG’s early tokenization work included ReitBZ, a real-estate-linked security token announced in 2019. FinTech Futures reported that the bank worked with group company Enforce to provide exposure to a portfolio of Brazilian properties. Sallouti personally explained the project in terms of opening access to an asset class that could be difficult for international retail investors to reach. The original offering excluded residents of Brazil and the United States, an important limit on any description of its intended audience.
A July 2020 bank announcement described an intended distribution of portfolio profits through an Ethereum smart contract and said ReitBZ had also begun issuance on Tezos that May. Sallouti appeared in the announcement as the executive supporting the bank’s technology investment. The release separately identified Enforce as the property manager and André Portilho as the partner responsible for the token. Those distinctions locate his contribution in institutional sponsorship rather than personal management of the properties or authorship of the software.
ReitBZ also illustrates why tokenization and ordinary cryptocurrency trading should be considered separately. The investment exposure came from a real-estate portfolio; the token supplied a way to represent and administer participation. Claims about distribution, liquidity and returns require evidence about the underlying investment and operating arrangements, not merely the existence of a blockchain token. The bank’s historical announcement is evidence of its stated program, not a current performance assessment.
Mynt brought a different form of access. In September 2021, Portal do Bitcoin reported Sallouti’s explanation that the platform was being created in response to client demand for bitcoin and other crypto assets. He also discussed educational material about the assets and their technology. That public explanation directly connects him with the commercial rationale for BTG’s crypto offering, beyond an inference based only on his CEO title.
The rollout unfolded over time. In May 2022, Bloomberg Línea reported his statement on a results call that Mynt would launch shortly as part of a more complete investment proposition. The Block subsequently reported that the platform opened to the wider public on 15 August 2022 after restricted access from May. At that launch it supported bitcoin, ether, Solana, Polkadot and Cardano. Separating the initial announcement, limited access and public launch avoids compressing distinct milestones into a single date.
The launch coverage identified Portilho as BTG’s head of digital assets and described specialist support and educational content. Mynt was then offered through a separate app and a desktop interface. This division of responsibilities matters: Sallouti’s public strategy statements show executive engagement, while product execution and customer operations involved dedicated teams.
In April 2023, BTG announced BTG Dol through Mynt and its investment platform. The bank described the instrument as a dollar-backed stablecoin targeting one-to-one parity with the U.S. dollar and said it would manage the backing and custody. These are the issuer’s descriptions of the product design and responsibilities at launch. They do not establish the adequacy of reserves at a later date, guarantee uninterrupted parity or make the asset equivalent to a conventional bank deposit.
The distribution model changed again in 2026. Mynt’s company communications specified 8 September as the date its experience would become part of BTG Pactual, and a subsequent post said the integration had been completed. Independent reporting in August described the planned transfer of customers, assets and transaction histories into BTG’s digital environment. It also reported that recurring purchases and scheduled orders would need to be configured again. The transition therefore involved operational details as well as a change of brand or interface.
This integration means Mynt should no longer be described simply as an unchanged standalone platform. It also creates a concrete question about institutional adoption: how does access to crypto change when it sits alongside a wider investment account? The announcement establishes the company’s integration, but does not by itself measure customer uptake, transaction quality or financial outcomes after migration.
Sallouti has continued to participate publicly in digital-asset discussion. Mynt’s account of a 2026 Brazil House panel in Davos placed him alongside Portilho and Fireblocks CEO Michael Shaulov in a conversation about tokenization, stablecoins and financial infrastructure. That is evidence of continuing engagement with the topic. It is not evidence that he designed a particular token standard or that every proposed use case has reached production.
Why Katharos.ai Follows Roberto Sallouti
Katharos.ai follows Sallouti because established financial institutions can shape crypto access through decisions about distribution, governance and product scope. His record includes person-specific explanations of both tokenized investment and consumer trading initiatives. Those statements, together with dated company actions, provide a stronger basis for assessing influence than the size of his employer alone.
The most relevant question is how executive direction translates into services customers can actually use. ReitBZ, Mynt and BTG Dol involve different assets, counterparties and operating models. Following their development together can reveal changes in a bank’s digital-asset strategy without assuming that every initiative has the same risks or commercial outcome.
Areas to Follow
- The customer experience and verified operating results after Mynt’s integration into BTG. - Current asset availability, custody arrangements and transfer functionality. - Updated disclosures about any bank-issued stablecoin’s backing, redemption and use. - Tokenized investment structures, eligible audiences and evidence of liquidity. - Sallouti’s public strategy statements and the responsibilities of specialist digital-asset leadership.
Reporting Scope
This profile covers Sallouti’s public professional career and selected BTG initiatives that explain his digital-asset relevance. Historical announcements remain dated, and issuer statements remain attributed. It distinguishes executive leadership from technical authorship and subsidiary operations. It does not reproduce portfolio-allocation advice, estimate personal assets or endorse a product’s safety, returns or market position.
Areas of Influence
His principal influence channels are investment distribution, institutional capital allocation, tokenization and digital-money access. His contribution is chiefly organizational and strategic: influencing how a banking group evaluates and presents digital assets within a broader financial-services business.
