The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is making tokenization, advanced artificial intelligence and cybersecurity central parts of its supervisory agenda for fiscal year 2027, signaling that the technologies reshaping financial markets will receive closer examination as regulated institutions deploy them at greater scale. The SEC’s Division of Examinations says it will focus on emerging market infrastructure, automated investment tools, trading algorithms, operational resilience and the security of customer information, while explicitly identifying tokenized securities among the technological changes requiring additional scrutiny. The announcement does not create new rules or launch enforcement proceedings against specific companies, but it provides a clear indication of where SEC examiners intend to concentrate attention over the coming year.

The approval represents a significant expansion of Ripple’s regulated U.S. infrastructure, but it does not convert Ripple into a conventional full-service commercial bank authorized to take ordinary deposits or make commercial loans.
