Stablecoins are beginning to show a different kind of growth story. Instead of expanding mainly through larger token supply or speculative crypto trading, payment activity itself is accelerating. New research from blockchain analytics company Allium estimates that stablecoin payments reached approximately $482 billion during the first nine months of 2026, up about 45%, even as total stablecoin circulation remained relatively flat. That divergence matters because it suggests existing stablecoins are being used more intensively rather than growth depending only on additional token issuance. The number of payments rose even faster, increasing roughly 71% to about 1.04 billion transactions, while stablecoin-linked card spending reached approximately $3.9 billion, nearly ten times the comparable level a year earlier.

South Korea’s Upbit has expanded trading support for Nillion (NIL) by adding a Korean-won market, giving domestic traders direct fiat access to the privacy-focused blockchain infrastructure token. The listing expands Nillion’s access on Upbit rather than introducing the asset to the exchange for the first time, because BTC- and USDT-denominated NIL markets were already available. Read More...

Ripple has received final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish Ripple National Trust Bank, completing a federal charter process that began with its application in July 2025 and conditional approval five months later. The new federally supervised trust bank will manage segregated reserves supporting Ripple USD, act as collateral trustee for the benefit of RLUSD holders and provide fiduciary custody services for digital assets. The approval represents a significant expansion of Ripple’s regulated U.S. infrastructure, but it does not convert Ripple into a conventional full-service commercial bank authorized to take ordinary deposits or make commercial loans.
